By definition, medical rhinoplasty using hyaluronic acid injections is a nose reshaping procedure involving augmentation with a more or less volumizing filler. That's why the indications must be carefully respected, to ensure a harmonious result.

When to get a nose job without surgery?

Nose reshaping with hyaluronic acid is possible to correct minor nasal irregularities (hollows, humps, asymmetry, etc.), to raise the tip of the nose or to better project it.

This can be done as a first step (primary rhinoplasty) or after nose surgery to correct minor defects (secondary rhinoplasty).

Hyaluronic acid is a molecule naturally present in the dermis. Its ability to retain water helps preserve skin volume, tone and elasticity. Hyaluronic acid injected as part of medical rhinoplasty is perfectly tolerated and 100% biodegradable, guaranteeing the safety of the treatment.

What are the limits of medical rhinoplasty?

Nose reshaping without surgery is only possible for aesthetic rhinoplasty. It is not possible for functional rhinoplasty, when upper airway permeability needs to be restored, such as a deviated septum.

Nor can medical rhinoplasty replace a reduction rhinoplasty, where the nasal appendage has excess hard tissue (bone, cartilage) or soft tissue (skin, mucosa). Surgical rhinoplasty is recommended in cases where the nasal hump is too large, the nose is too long and you wish to shorten it, or the nostrils are too wide and you wish to reduce them.

Excess tissue can be removed to modify the cartilaginous and bony structures of the nose, modify contours and reduce relief.

As hyaluronic acid resorbs in 9 to 18 months, the procedure has to be repeated, but this reversibility is an advantage for many patients who are afraid of being disappointed by their nose makeover.

A medical rhinoplasty does not have the finality that can be frightening with an operation, in the event of botched nose surgery.

For the most sensitive areas, Dr Santini may prescribe an anaesthetic ointment, to be applied 1 hour before the non-operative rhinoplasty.

First, she disinfects the area. Then, using a very fine needle or micro-cannula, she injects hyaluronic acid deep into your nose, directly in contact with the bone or cartilage. Medical rhinoplasty is painless: the hyaluronic acid filler used contains a local anesthetic, lidocaine, to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. An anaesthetic cream, such as Emla, can also be applied, particularly to the most sensitive areas such as the tip of the nose and between the nostrils.

Dr Santini then performs a manual reshaping to set the hyaluronic acid gel in place and perfect the aesthetic result.

The session lasts about 20 minutes.

In some cases, a touch-up can be considered at least two weeks later.

After the nose injection, you may experience some redness and slight swelling a few hours after the session.

You can mask them with make-up the next day.

To avoid displacing the injected product, we advise you not to press on your nose for 24 hours after the procedure. In addition, you may experience local sensitivity for a few days after the procedure, which then rapidly disappears.

For the next 2 weeks, avoid sun exposure, saunas and steam baths. Non-contact sports can be resumed 1 to 2 days after the session, and work resumed immediately.

One session is all it takes to achieve visible results immediately afterwards. The correction is slight, but visible in profile, with a smoother nasal hump and a more even bridge.

Slight oedema may impasto the tissues and modify them for up to two weeks, while the hyaluronic acid binds properly.

A touch-up may be necessary a few weeks after the 1st session, to perfect the final result, which lasts from 12 to 18 months.
