Botox ® eyebrow

The natural shape and position of the eyebrow will be affected with age by the tensile forces exerted on both the brow muscle and the orbicularis muscle located at eyelid level.

A drawn-down eyebrow is accompanied by a drooping eyelid, which tends to close the eyes. This aging of the tissues will alter the physiognomy of the upper face, giving a tired, amorphous or sad look, often a source of complexes or prejudice in professional or emotional life.

Dr Santini performs a meticulous clinical examination to understand the causes of aging eyes. She suggests Botox eyebrow injections when she finds evidence of hyper-contraction of the orbicularis muscle, without excess skin, with two main indications:

• raise the head of the eyebrow if muscle hyper-contraction affects the eyebrow depressor and corrugator, in which case Botox injections can also be used to smooth out frown lines between the two eyebrows.
• lift the tail of the eyebrow if muscle hyper-contraction affects the Orbicularis oculi, in which case botulinum toxin injections can also smooth crow's feet wrinkles at the corner of the eye.

An initial consultation takes place at Dr. Christelle Santini's practice, followed by a clinical examination.

An eyebrow lift can only be successful if the indications are perfectly met.

Dr. Santini takes medical photos and explains the precautions to be taken beforehand, such as stopping taking aspirin for 5 days or avoiding congestion of the skin on the day itself. An anaesthetic cream can be prescribed in case of apprehension.

If aesthetic indications are well met, medical contraindications to Botox eyebrow injections are rare:

• To raise the tail of the eyebrow, toxin A is injected into the orbicularis muscle at several points, around 10 mm from the orbital margin.
• To raise the eyebrow head, BTX-A toxin is injected into the Corrugator and Depressor Supercili muscles at several points, 10 mm above the orbital margin.

No social eviction is necessary, as any redness or bruising that may occur is generally not very pronounced and fades within a few days.
