Liposuction of the pubis or mount of Venus
Genetics, hormonal variations and lifestyle mean that adipose deposits develop progressively over the years. Some fatty deposits are very difficult to eliminate, even with a combination of regular exercise and a strict diet. This is particularly true of the pubic area. When you don't know how to slim down your pubis, Dr Christelle Santini in Paris offers a simple, minimally invasive answer: liposuction of the pubis or Mont de Vénus. Pubic liposuction can be performed on its own, or in conjunction with tummy tuck or abdominoplasty.
What are the indications for pubic liposuction in Paris?
Liposuction, or lipoaspiration, is a surgical procedure designed to remove superficial and deep-seated fat. It can be performed on various areas of the body, including intimate parts such as the Mount of Venus.
Located between the lower abdomen and the genitals, the appearance of fat on the pubis can be a complex, particularly in intimate life.
These fatty deposits are more common in women for two reasons.
The female gynoid model means that genetically, adipocytes are more numerous on the lower part of the body: hips, buttocks, thighs and pubic region.
On the other hand, the hormonal surges of pregnancy or menopause will also promote adipocyte hypertrophy.
With pubic liposuction, a slimmer, more harmonious figure is restored, with a flat lower abdomen. This procedure is sometimes performed as a complement to a tummy tuck, to harmonize the result, or as a complement to abdominal liposuction.
Thanks to her artistic eye, Dr Christelle Santini will be able to advise you on the best solution. Her results are considered definitive, as fat cells are unable to regenerate and multiply.
Liposuction of the Mont de Vénus is solely for aesthetic reasons, and is therefore not eligible for social security reimbursement. Nor will it be possible to obtain post-operative leave from work: it is therefore important to plan a rest period (2 to 5 days depending on the case).
What to do before pubic liposuction?
Dr Santini performs a preliminary examination to check indications and the absence of contraindications. Once she has understood your expectations, she will propose the best solution from both a medical and aesthetic point of view. She will then draw up a customized estimate.
A pre-operative check-up and consultation with the anaesthetist will determine whether the patient presents any particular risks of complication. Following the consultation with the anaesthetist, scheduled 48 hours before the operation, the type of anaesthesia will be chosen: either a vigile or a general anaesthesia.
Several conditions must be met to ensure the success of pubic liposuction:
- All medications containing aspirin must be stopped 10 days before surgery
- Oral contraceptives should be discontinued one month prior to liposuction, to limit thromboembolic risks.
- The patient must not eat, drink or smoke for 6 hours prior to the operation.
- On the morning of the operation, wash the body and hair with Betadine to ensure that the skin is clean and free from risk of infection.
What's more, although it's not compulsory, we strongly advise against smoking in the month before and the month after the operation, to avoid any risk of post-operative infection.
Finally, you will be prescribed a sheathing panty to wear for 4 weeks.
How is pubic liposuction performed?
Once the consultation with the anaesthetist has been completed, the type of anaesthesia to be used will be determined. For liposuction of the pubis, it is possible to use vigorous neuroleptanalgesia. The patient is awake but insensitive to pain, feeling light and relaxed thanks to the synergistic combination of an analgesic and a neuroleptic. If this type of anesthesia is not suitable, general anesthesia can also be used.
Dr. Santini's procedure begins by making microincisions of around 3 to 4 mm in the natural folds of the skin, to conceal the scars. Beforehand, she may inject adrenaline serum to break up fatty deposits and limit bleeding. Then, using a foam cannula, the fat is removed by suction.
Liposuction is performed with a gentle, even stroke to avoid damaging the skin.
Dr Santini always ensures a harmonious result.
With the surgeon's agreement, the operation is performed on an outpatient basis, i.e. the patient leaves the clinic on the same day as the operation.
The total time for pubic liposuction is quite short, taking only about 30 minutes in the operating room.
What to do after liposuction of the mound of Venus?
Pubic liposuction has very few complications.
Ecchymosis (bruising) and oedema (swelling) are fairly common, and these marks will gradually disappear in about 20 days. As for pain, it is generally very slight, and can be soothed by taking painkillers. Depending on the surgeon's assessment, an anticoagulant may be prescribed to avoid any risk of phlebitis.
On the other hand, a strong feeling of fatigue, partly dependent on the amount of fat removed, may occur on leaving the operating room. It is therefore advisable to have a close friend or relative accompany you home.
Even if the sutures are resorbable, several post-operative consultations in the office will enable Dr Santini to monitor the evolution of the tissues and the scarring result.
What's more, to ensure optimal results, the skin must be allowed to heal properly. For this reason, sun exposure of the operated area should be avoided for at least 3 months following the operation. It is also important to wear a non-irritating elastic girdle. The aim is to leave the tissues of the Mounts of Venus firmly in place, for rapid and perfect volume remodelling.
The first results of pubic liposuction usually appear after 3 weeks, once swelling and bruising have subsided. However, you'll need to wait 6 months for the final result.
Slimming the pubic area restores a more sensual and balanced Mount Venus.
