Buttock surgery with prostheses
We know that for some women and men, having a beautiful buttocks contributes to the harmony and sensuality of a figure. Lack of volume in the buttocks can be constitutional (buttock hypoplasia, buttock malformation), acquired (following significant weight loss) or sometimes the result of a pathology (polio) or trauma.
To reshape the buttocks and enable tailor-made buttock augmentation, Dr. Christelle Santini offers buttock surgery in Paris, via buttock implants.
What are the indications for buttock implants in Paris?
The shape of the buttocks is mainly due to the development of the gluteal muscles.
These are often very difficult to train specifically.
The contours of the buttocks are enhanced by the addition of fat mass and skin contours.
Since natural, consistent buttock augmentation is most often doomed to failure, the only way to achieve round, shapely buttocks is through buttock augmentation surgery.
While buttock lipofilling with a BBL Brazilian buttock lift offers moderate gains (300 ml), buttock prostheses offer tailor-made reshaping for any shape of buttock, even voluminous ones.
Buttock implant surgery can be performed at any age, from 18 upwards.
The gluteal implants currently in use consist of a silicone envelope and a filler (cohesive shape-memory silicone gel).
The envelope of the buttock prosthesis is made of a silicone elastomer that is very well tolerated, avoiding painful inflammatory reactions.
Dr Santini takes great care to select premium-quality prostheses, whose origin and safety are guaranteed.
The range of buttock implants is very broad, with prosthesis volumes fixed by the implant manufacturer, or made-to-measure. For those who so wish, a large-volume buttock implant is available.
What to do before buttock surgery with implants?
During a preliminary consultation, Dr. Santini will conduct a medical history, followed by a careful examination.
She must understand your expectations and take into account all clinical and aesthetic parameters to determine the best technique.
She will be attentive to your silhouette, your height, your weight, the quality of your skin, the extent or absence of fat, the state of your muscles...
The aim is to reconcile aesthetic demands with technical possibilities and a natural finish that enhances sensual contours.
Based on this anatomical context and the patient's expressed preferences and wishes, a surgical strategy will be agreed with Dr. Christelle Santini, Plastic Surgeon in Paris. The location of the scars, the type of buttock implants used, the size of the buttock implants and their positioning, generally inside the gluteus maximus muscle, will all be predetermined.
A pre-operative blood test will be carried out as prescribed.
The anaesthetist will be consulted at least 48 hours before the buttock implant procedure.
It is strongly recommended to stop smoking at least one month before and one month after the operation (smoking can delay healing).
No medication containing aspirin should be taken for ten days before or after the buttock implant operation. In the case of chronic treatment, the agreement of the prescribing physician is required.
Finally, you will be asked to fast (eat and drink nothing) for six hours before the operation.
Dr. Santini will also prescribe a contention bandage, which must be worn post-surgery.
How is the buttock implant procedure carried out?
This buttock augmentation surgery is performed under general anesthesia, in the operating room, with an overnight hospital stay.
For the approach, Dr. Santini tries to select the gluteal interfold, with either a single median incision of around 5 to 7 cm, or two para-median incisions of equal length.
The aim is to have a perfectly concealed scar.
In the case of associated gluteal ptosis (drooping buttocks), it may be advisable to reduce the skin envelope of the buttock in order to lift it ("gluteopexy").
This skin resection will then result in larger scars (in the gluteal fold, sometimes above the buttocks as in body lifts).
The muscles are then peeled away to create a pocket in which the prosthesis is housed.
Dr Santini ensures symmetry and correct positioning before suturing.
Liposuction of the hips and saddlebags can sometimes be combined, to enhance the posterior augmentation and sublimate the rounded shape of the buttocks. A small drain on each side of the prosthesis can be used to evacuate any blood that may accumulate around it.
Depending on the approach and the need for additional procedures, the procedure can last from one to two and a half hours.
What to do after buttock augmentation?
The post-operative period can sometimes be painful for the first few days, especially when the implants are large, as they are placed in the thickness of the muscle.
That's why Dr. Santini always administers a painkiller, adapted to the intensity of the pain, for a few days.
In the best case, the patient will feel a strong sensation of tension.
Bruises resolve in 8 to 15 days, and most swelling in around 10 days to 1 month.
The first dressing is removed after a few days. It is then replaced by a lighter dressing with a containment sheath. In most cases, the sutures are absorbable. If not, they are removed after a few days.
Rehabilitation begins on the second day for the sitting position, which will gradually become possible over a few days, before becoming totally comfortable in two weeks.
A convalescence period of at least ten to fifteen days should be envisaged.
It is advisable to wait one to two months before resuming sporting activity.
What are the results of buttock surgery?
It takes three to six months to appreciate the final result after buttock implants. This is the time needed for the buttocks to regain their full suppleness, and for the buttock implants to stabilize with deep tissue healing and the disappearance of edema.
Buttock augmentation with implants adds curves and sensuality to the silhouette, with scars perfectly concealed in the gluteal cleft.

FAQ
What types of implants are used?
Butt implants are generally made of solid silicone, a material also used for breast implants, but with a more resistant texture to withstand pressure and body movements. They come in a variety of shapes (round or anatomical) and volumes, depending on each patient's objectives.
Are buttock implants visible under the skin?
When correctly placed, implants are generally not visible under the skin. They are positioned either under the muscle or under the adipose tissue (fat), so as to achieve a natural result. In some cases, if the patient is very thin or if the implants are too large for the patient's morphology, there may be a risk of slightly visible contours, but this is rare.
Are the results permanent?
Buttock implants are designed to last a long time, often more than 10 to 15 years, but they are not necessarily permanent. Over time, the body changes, and implants can shift or wear out. The patient may need to undergo revision surgery at some point, to replace the implants or adjust their position. However, in the absence of complications, the results of surgery are long-lasting and offer long-term aesthetic improvement.
Does buttock implant surgery leave visible scars?
Yes, as with any surgical procedure, there will be scars. However, the surgeon ensures that the incision is placed in an inconspicuous area, usually in the gluteal fold, which helps to camouflage the scar. Over time, the scar will fade and become less visible, especially if post-operative instructions on scar care are followed correctly.

Bonjour,
