Double chin and neck liposuction

Significant weight gain or skin aging can sometimes be responsible for the appearance of a double chin, regardless of lifestyle habits.

These fatty bulges will profoundly alter the physiognomy, aging the face and making it less dynamic. This is a source of injustice in both professional and personal life.

Chin or neck liposuction offered by Dr Christelle Santini in Paris enables permanent chin loss, with a minimally invasive and painless liposuction procedure.

What are the indications for double chin and neck liposuction in Paris?

Liposuction or lipoaspiration is a surgical technique designed to remove excess fat cells.

This fatty mass may be superficial, in the adipose hypodermis of the skin, or deep, behind the platysma muscle of the neck.

It can have a variety of causes, often including aging, sagging skin and fat-loaded adipocytes, as well as poor lifestyle habits and even overweight. In rarer cases, the origins of a double chin can be genetic, in slim patients for example.

Losing a chin is often impossible through sport or dieting, and is even "risky" if successful. The general melting away of the face's fatty volumes will in fact age it, favoring static wrinkles such as the nasolabial fold, hollow dark circles that skeletonize the eyes, or the volumetry of the oval of the face.

That's why Dr. Santini offers liposuction of the double chin, to restore a slim, dynamic facial contour.

To achieve this, the skin must be in good condition and sufficiently elastic, so that it can harmoniously restore slimmed volumes.

What to do before double chin liposuction?

At least two consultations are required before the operation.

Firstly, a pre-operative check-up should be carried out with Dr Santini.

This preliminary consultation is designed to verify your expectations and the indications for liposuction. The medical and artistic examination will check for the presence of fat deposits, and ensure the absence of other chin anomalies that could alter its physiognomy (sagging skin, chin protruding progeny...).

Secondly, a consultation with the anesthesiologist must be carried out within 48 hours of the operation, to ensure that the patient has no contraindications.

For patients who so wish, double chin liposuction can be performed under general or local anaesthetic.

Anesthesia is usually local, with neuroleptanalgesia, for optimum comfort and rapid recovery: discharge is then possible the same evening.

For general anaesthesia in particular, you will be required to fast for 6 hours before the procedure, i.e. not to eat or drink anything.

Finally, it is important to completely stop taking any medication containing aspirin for 10 days prior to chin liposuction.

In the case of chronic treatment with anticoagulants, it is necessary to obtain the approval of the prescribing physician (vascular physician, cardiologist, etc.).

How is double chin liposuction performed?

This procedure is not performed at Dr. Santini's practice, but at the clinic where she works.

The principle of liposuction is the aspiration of fatty deposits by a small, very fine cannula, introduced through a 3 mm incision behind the chin crease, and therefore invisible.

In this way, liposuction of the double chin treats fat in the superficial and deeper planes.

To achieve this, Dr Christelle Santini sweeps evenly, without forcing the suction, which could create areas of depression on the skin (a corrugated-sheet appearance). Her aesthetic eye helps her to harmonize the entire face and neck, restoring the tissues' dynamic lines and appearance.

The procedure takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes.

A chinstrap-type contention bandage is left in place for a few days.

What to do after liposuction of the neck or double chin?

The result is immediate, but imperfect for the first few days.

Slight oedema impales the volumes, while the skin may show some flaccidity until it has naturally remodelled itself around the new contours. Any bruising disappears within a week, which means that the patient has to stay out of the community for an average of 1 to 2 weeks.

The final result is obtained between 3 and 6 months after the operation.

In the case of incomplete skin retraction in patients with fatty deposits and sagging skin, skin tightening by neck lift may be proposed 3 months after liposuction.

Double chin liposuction: what are the results?

Double chin liposuction is a targeted procedure that improves the appearance of the neck and redefines the oval of the face. The first results are visible after a few weeks, but the final appearance is revealed between 3 and 6 months after the operation.

This procedure offers long-lasting results, as long as body weight is kept stable. Compare before-and-after results and see how this procedure can improve facial harmony.
